A pesar de la inestabilidad financiera y ola de especulación que ha provocado la incidencia del Coronavirus como epidemia global, la economía de México ha resistido y el peso es la tercera moneda más estable del mundo, sostuvo el presidente Andrés Manuel López Obrador.
A pregunta expresa de Pasión por los Negocios, el jefe del ejecutivo federal presentó incluso un gráfico donde se muestra que la moneda mexicana ha ganado un 3.55 por ciento durante su administración, por lo que se dijo seguro de que una vez que pase el nerviosismo en los mercados, el precio del dólar volverá a la baja.
López Obrador aseguró que en el país hay finanzas públicas sanas y una moneda fuerte.
«Yo creo que ha resistido nuestra economía, sobre todo el peso. Aguantó esta primera etapa de propagación sobre el coronavirus. Ha habido una depreciación pero estaba bastante apreciado el peso, resistió», recalcó.
Apuntó que la situación se estabilizará, pese a que sus adversarios pudieran señalar que no es así.
«Yo estoy seguro que esto se va a estabilizar. Es un asunto mundial, pero cada vez van a estar más tranquilos los mercados, ese es mi pronóstico», indicó.
Después, presentó en una diapositiva una gráfica sobre la apreciación del peso frente a otras monedas del mundo, entre ellas el yen japonés y el baht tailandés.
«Nuestro peso, a pesar de los pesares, se ha apreciado 3.55 por ciento, se ha apreciado con relación al dólar en todo este tiempo que llevamos en el Gobierno», subrayó.
Hasta este lunes, son cinco los casos del virus confirmados en todo el país: dos en Ciudad de México, uno en Coahuila, uno en Sinaloa y uno más en Chiapas, el cual es un caso asintomático, según explicó en la conferencia matutina Hugo López-Gatell, subsecretario de Salud.
