Con una fortuna estimada en 37 mil millones de dólares, esta ciudadana francesa es la mujer más rica del mundo. El origen de su fortuna proviene del 33 por ciento que posee de la mayor empresa de cosméticos del mundo: L’Oreal, que cuenta con casi 40 marcas diferentes entre las que destacan Lancome, Maybeline, Garnier, Kérastase y Essie, además de The Body Shop. En 1957 heredó esta tenencia accionaria de su padre y desde 2011 su fortuna es manejada por su hija y uno de sus nietos, luego que una corte dijo determinó que la heredera no tenía la capacidad de manejar sus asuntos por la demencia que padece y en 2012 otro de sus nietos ocupó su asiento en la junta directiva de la compañía.

La hija más pequeña del fundador de Wal-Mart Stores, Sam Walton, tiene una fortuna estimada en 33.7 mil millones de dólares, lo que la coloca como la mujer más rica de Estados Unidos. Si bien el origen de su fortuna es la tenencia accionaria en la mayor cadena minorista del mundo, no se le conoce por intervenir en las operaciones de Wal- Mart, pero sí en fomentar el arte norteamericano, que culminó con la apertura de su museo Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art, para lo cual donó parte de su colección personal.

Poseedora de una tercera parte de la mayor empresa de dulces del mundo, Mars Inc., le permite tener una fortuna estimada en 32.5 mil millones de dólares. La empresa fundada por su padre en 1911 tiene más de 60 marcas de productos consolidadas a nivel mundial, entre las que destacan los chocolates, chicles, dulces y alimentos para mascotas, además del Banfield pet hospital. Ella estuvo en la operación de la empresa desde 1982 hasta 2001 y se mantuvo en la junta directiva hasta 2016. Actualmente está en la junta directiva de otras seis organizaciones, como el Smithsonian y los Archivos Nacionales, además de dirigir el Washington National Opera.

Esta economista con un MBA, es la mujer más rica de Alemania con una fortuna estimada en 19.3 mil millones de dólares. El origen de su fortuna proviene de casi el 50 por ciento que posee, junto con su hermano, en la Bayerische Motoren Werke (BMW). Pero no todo se le puede atribuir a la segunda mayor automotriz de lujo del mundo, ya que ha diversificado sus inversiones.
