Padecer obesidad, diabetes, consumir tabaco y alcohol, así como el sedentarismo, son factores de riesgo para desarrollarlo
Para detectar de manera temprana el cáncer de mama y tener más posibilidades de curación se recomienda a las mujeres que a partir de los 18 años de edad se realicen autoexploración mamaria, puntualizó Alfredo Genaro Guevara Torres.
El oncólogo médico del Centro Estatal de Oncología (CEO) “Dr. Ernesto Rivera Claisse”, explicó que ésta debe ser frente al espejo, una vez al mes, y siete días después de su ciclo menstrual donde es más evidente cualquier alteración o irregularidad en su cuerpo.
Al cumplir los 25 años de edad, apuntó, deben visitar a su ginecólogo por lo menos una vez al año, para que le realice un examen mamario y descartar la presencia de tumoración.
“Después de los 40 años se deben realizar mamografías anuales, pero cuando se tiene antecedentes familiares directos de mamá, abuela o hermanas que padecieron cáncer de mama, se deben comenzar desde los 35 años”, aclaró.
Guevara Torres resaltó que la principal medida de prevención del cáncer de mama, además de la autoexploración, es tener una buena alimentación la cual sea baja en grasa y carbohidratos, así como realizar ejercicio, para evitar factores de riesgo como el padecer obesidad y diabetes.
Otros factores de riesgo, agregó, son consumir tabaco y alcohol, el sedentarismo, haber consumido cualquier anticonceptivo por más de 5 años ya sea oral, subdérmico o intramuscular y tener al primer hijo después de los 30 años de edad.
Ante la presencia de cualquier anomalía en su cuerpo o senos, la Secretaría de Salud llama a las mujeres a acudir inmediatamente a su unidad de salud más cercana para la revisión correspondiente, ya que una detección y tratamiento temprano es mejor para su salud.
