Con drones y armas, civiles buscan repeler a migrantes en frontera con EU

Grupos de civiles estadounidenses armados, miembros de autoproclamadas “milicias”, han anunciado que se dirigirán a la frontera de Estados Unidos para detener a los aproximadamente 6,000 migrantes que se dirigen a la frontera con México.

“Observaremos e informaremos, y ofreceremos ayuda en todo lo que podamos”, ha declarado el presidente de los llamados Minutemen (cazadores de ilegales) de Texas, Shannon McCauley, al ‘Washington Post‘. “Ya hemos demostrado antes lo que valemos y lo demostraremos de nuevo”, ha añadido.

En total se trata de unos 100 “voluntarios”, que se disponen a viajar con armas de fuego y drones para, según sus palabras, identificar y repeler cualquier intento ilegal de entrar en el país.

“Tampoco puedo dar un número exacto porque mi teléfono lleva los últimos siete días sonando sin parar. Se están sumando otras milicias que vienen de Oregón e Indiana“, ha añadido.

El Ejército de EU y las agencias fronterizadas ya han manifestado su preocupación ante la acción de estos grupos, que describe como “milicias no reguladas“, dada la absoluta incapacidad de sus miembros para ejercer un mínimo de autocontrol, por no mencionar que no están capacitados legalmente para hacer cumplir la ley.

“Nos preocupa que estos miembros de milicias no reguladas se desplieguen en la frontera como presunto apoyo”, advierten documentos del Servicio de Aduanas y Protección Fronteriza.

Además se sospecha que actúan con material robado de la Guardia Nacional. “Están actuando por su cuenta y riesgo”, añaden los textos, recogidos por Newsweek.
