La selección 13-14 años de la Liga de Béisbol Cucapah de San Luis Río Colorado, se coronaron campeones invictos del torneo estatal 13-14 realizado este fin de semana en la capital del estado.
Los pequeños sanluisinos superaron a los cinco rivales a los que se enfrentaron para poder llegar a la gran final ante la Liga Municipal de Béisbol Infantil y Juvenil de Puerto Peñasco, a quienes vencieron con un marcador final de 14 carreras a 2, quedándose así con el título de campeón, que se suma a una gran lista de logros de la Liga Cucapah.
Entre el 10 y 12 de mayo, el equipo sanluisino enfrentó y venció a los selectivos de la Liga Conno de Hermosillo, Liga ITSON de Hermosillo, Unison Amarilla de Hermosillo, Liga Bellota de Nogales, Liga Kino de Hermosillo y Puerto Peñasco en la final.
El alcalde Santos González Yescas felicitó en persona a los pequeños, padres de familia y al cuerpo técnico conformado por el manejador Benjamín Ron, los entrenadores Francisco Ibarra, Héctor Rosas y la delegada Guadalupe Villarreal, a quienes se encontró en el tramo carretero entre la capital y San Luis, cuando se dirigía en camino a una reunión en Hermosillo.
La Dirección Municipal de Deporte por medio de su titular Ricardo Lugo Moreno, ha apoyado económicamente, con gasolina y transporte al equipo campeón durante su camino hasta el Estatal de Béisbol; previo a su participación en Hermosillo recibieron un cheque por más de 20 mil pesos para ayudarlos a cubrir gastos de traslado, alimentación y hospedaje.
El Presidente Municipal resalta los grandes resultados que han brindado los deportistas sanluisinos en las distintas ramas y sobre todo en el béisbol, donde se le considera a nuestro municipio una potencia a nivel estatal e incluso un semillero de jugadores profesionales a nivel nacional, por ello la importancia de apoyar al deporte.
