Subrayó que el proceso de negociación para arribar a un punto de entendimiento fue arduo y complejo. “No es un logro individual, es un logro de equipo, es un logro de todos; fue una tarea compleja”, destacó.
En el evento, realizado en el salón Adolfo López Mateos de la Residencia Oficial de Los Pinos, el Primer Mandatario resaltó la importancia del T-MEC para México, que “hoy deja bases sólidas, de estabilidad y de certeza para los inversionistas y para la generación de más empleo en los próximos años”.
Destacó que la modernización de diferentes acuerdos de México con otras naciones es una de las cuatro premisas centrales en las que se ha cifrado la gestión de este Gobierno en el ámbito económico.
El Titular del Ejecutivo Federal enumeró estos cuatro ejes:
PRIMERO: “Mantener la estabilidad macroeconómica, y eso, obligándonos a tomar a veces decisiones no fáciles”. Añadió que “cuando se tiene esta responsabilidad, no se puede pretender tomar decisiones a partir de una agenda política, de una agenda electoral o de una agenda que permita la mayor o menor aprobación entre la sociedad mexicana, sino a partir de la responsabilidad, y una primera premisa fue y ha sido, precisamente, cuidar nuestra estabilidad macroeconómica. Eso ha significado una Reforma Fiscal, en su momento no muy aplaudida; elevar o liberar el precio a los energéticos, y especialmente a los hidrocarburos en enero del año pasado”.
SEGUNDO: “Emprender toda una agenda de Reformas transformadoras en diferentes ámbitos, tanto en lo social, en lo político y en lo económico, precisamente para potenciar el que México pueda crecer y tener mayores niveles de desarrollo en los próximos años”.
TERCERO: “El desarrollo de una importante infraestructura en el país. La inversión tanto pública como privada que se ha realizado en estos últimos seis años quizá no tenga precedente. Son poco más de siete puntos con respecto al Producto Interno Bruto, y aquí ha contado muchísimo el involucramiento y la confianza que ha tenido el sector privado para, realmente, detonar grandes proyectos de infraestructura”.
CUARTO: “Ponernos al día en nuestra apertura con el mundo, y lo hemos hecho a través de la modernización de diferentes acuerdos. Y aquí, por supuesto, encabezados por la Secretaría de Economía, quien tiene la responsabilidad constitucional de integrar equipos de trabajo, equipos negociadores encabezados por el titular de esta dependencia precisamente para la modernización de estos acuerdos. Está el de América del Norte, está el TPP, está el de la Unión Europea, Alianza del Pacífico, el inicio de otras negociaciones con otros países, pero sin duda el más relevante, por la trascendencia que tiene, es el de América del Norte”.
El Presidente Peña Nieto reiteró su reconocimiento “a lo que entre todos, Gobierno y sector privado, negociadores, han hecho posible para realmente asegurar que esta apertura comercial, y el acuerdo más importante que México tiene celebrado con alguna región del mundo, llegara a un punto de entendimiento”.
